How to make money with your ideas! (with Stephen Key)

Welcome to Bet The Jockey!
In this episode, I meet Stephen Key: inventor, author, and co-founder of InventRight, LLC. His book “One Simple Idea for Startups and Entrepreneurs” details just how simple it is to make a fortune selling or “renting out” your great idea.

And he should know! You’ll be amazed at how many thousands upon thousands Stephen’s been able to earn on royalty checks alone, simply by letting his most basic brainstorm instincts manifest. How is it that he can cash a $10,000 check for a piece of plastic attached to a suction cup? Or taping a picture to a piece of cardboard?

Stephen encourages us to get nervous and dream big and design the kind of life we really want. Check out his amazing site here and take advantage of his incredible youtube channel at InventRight TV. Learn more about what Stephen’s up to now at his LinkedIn and really guys, check out his book. It’s a keeper.

Hope you enjoy
~Josh

Key Takeaways:
1) Try to sell the benefit of your idea before you try to sell the idea.
If the benefit isn’t worth it, why bother?
2) Come up with a throw-away idea for a company you don’t have a vested interest in. It’s great practice and there’s nothing to lose.
3) There’s always going to be obstacles, so look for your way around it. Sometimes that means finding people to help you do the things you can’t do on your own.
